vankyo Leisure 430

It was 2005 that i purchased my first movie projector. It plays dvd’s, very expensive, big &clunky & gets pretty hot after one movie. Once you set it in your living room or basement,you don’t move it. It was eventually replaced by another big and expensive unit. Now it’s 2019 and thanks to technology, new led projectors are out in the market thatare smaller, lighter, more a/v connection options & costs about as much as a replacementbulb for the old style projectors. Are they any good?i acquired the vankyo leisure 430 because of it’s size and price. It’s about 9 inch wide, 7 inch deep& 3 1/2 inch tall & about 2. Very light and small in size. That’s a big check mark forportability.

To clarify, i knew nothing about projectors prior to making this purchase. I didn’t want it to crash on me in the first several days of working. I wanted to be able to play audio out of the projector. I wanted to be able to set it up when i received it and begin watching movies/television immediately. This projector exceeded my expectations tenfold. I pressed the on button, plugged one of my devices into it from the hdmi, and it immediately began playing.

When looking for a projector in the $100 range, there are no shortage of options. The vankyo leisure 430 is one that proves to be great value for the money. This projector offers a 1080p image and works well with high motion uses like video game play. It is bright enough to use during the day with basic window coverings and is very vivid in a dark room. The setup was easy, just a simple plug and play. I played with the settings and quickly found the configuration that looked best to me. The built in speakers are sufficient, no better or worse than any speakers you would find built into a projector or tv. They are loud enough to be heard clearly in a large room. The cons i have found were expected in this range of a projector. The fan is a bit loud and the image focus tends to be a bit soft on one edge or the other.

I wasn’t specifically looking for one, but i was offered to receive this product in exchange for an honest review and decided to go for it. The projector arrives in a well-packaged carrying case, including power cord, hdmi cord, remote (batteries not included), and av adapter cables. The projector is in there too, of course, with a lens cover for added protection, and everything fits neatly into the included case. I even managed to squeeze in a short extension cord as well. The design of the projector is very clean. The acrylic faceplate gives it a very modern, high tech look, while the lens itself is large and prominent on the front. Setup is very easy, i plugged it in (i used an extension cord because the power cable is only about 4 feet long) and started everything up.

However, my son has been playing video games with his friends and watching youtube videos on his phone or laptop, so for his 15th birthday i decided to get him a projector for his room. I read a lot of reviews and was concerned they may not be unbiased, but there were enough positive comments, articles, & videos that i decided to go for the leisure 430. I am pleased to report that he set it up in his room (using apple adapter) & it’s working great. No, be realistic – it’s a projector on drywall -but is it pretty freaking awesome for about $100?. Absolutelyhe set it up in the afternoon with regular curtains closed. His room was dark but not pitch black and the quality was still impressive. Sound is okay & the fan isn’t too loud (but maybe he’ll get speakers for xmas).
