Sony X91j 85 Inch Tv: Full Array Led 4k Ultra Hd Smart Google Tv
Tv picture is great, detailed picture controls and remote quite intuitive. 5 stars there which is of course primarily why you want a tv. My issue is with the arc set-up with a home theater system. I replaced a samsung tv with an arc channel and all devices (dvd player, roku, game console, occasional laptop) controlled through the denon receiver. With only two hdmi cords buried in the wall and 20 feet of distance between the tv and input devices, it is impossible to connect the desired number of devices any other way without opening up the wall and running new cable or having an ugly gang of wires beneath the tv. No variation of my former set-up will work with the sony. Any device plugged directly into the tv will work perfectly. The tv will recognize none of the devices if plugged into the receiver. When i contacted sony support about this they didn’t actually have an answer beyond “ we recommend connecting peripherals directly to the tv. ”nowhere in their documentation or in the on line description does sony say peripherals must be connected directly to the tv.
I expected a nightmare of assembly instructions and failure but that part is all easy. The hard part is to have the right size tv stand for it. Your need two strong people to get it out of the box, put the stand “feet” on it, and then lift it onto the stand. Picture quality and smart features are all as advertised. I also feared the remote control set up but that was easy too – it easily “spoke to” my cable box so the same remote can change channels when i go to cable tv. This is my first smart tv, so three weeks later it’s still christmas as i avoid going to work to play with all the streaming services.
I’ve been looking forward to get this tv for a while. The reason being is basically color accuracy and use case for everything. I use the apps; playstation 5; and just good movies. I only wish the remote was backlit. The shipping took a while but, it’s whatever set up was a breeze and once you enter your credentials for netflix; hbomax; and prime everything just looks great. I’m not a tv expert but, read online sony does a great job with their products. Yes you can find more affordable tvs now a days and other brands can compete but, you will miss out on the cinematic quality of sony. As a gamer it would be nice to have vrr i’m sure they are trying to perfect it. Sony does take their time with certain aspects and makes delayed promises.
Sony’s 85′ x91j tv has a great picture. If you’re familiar with an android os you’ll be at home with the software it comes with. Really nice tvdelivery on the other hand was less than good. It showed up lying on it’s side with one end on top of another package and the box was slightly damaged from it. It looked as though it fell over on top of the other box and i thought there would be damage to the large television falling/laying like that during transit. In the end, the tv works so, thank goodness for that.
I see plenty of 3 star or 2 star reviews saying ohh it’s a great tv but not for gaming. Let me try and explain,this tv comes standard without auto hdr and a bunch of very important things. First you need to plug a ps5 or series x into the hdmi 3 and 4 slots. 1 slots that can support it, next make sure the plugs you are using either came with the console or say they can support up to 120 at 4k. You then go into the tvs settings and change hdmi signal format to enhanced format. Now you can take full effect of this awesome tv. Make sure the console has all the 4k features turned on there are plenty of videos explaining how. The tv does need a lot of adjustment but that’s almost all products they can’t tell from the factory if you’re in a bright or dark room or that you have lights reflecting in the tvs screen. I know after using both consoles that the tvs 120 at 4k feature does work.
