Apple Tv 4k

Our house became apple’fied a few years ago and the apple tv box is pretty much central to that experience. If i have any complaint it’s that i had just upgraded from a 3rd generation box to the 4th when this 4k version came out. Not a big deal until we upgraded to a 4k tv soon after, and then i had no choice but to shell out the bucks for a 4k box. There are several in depth reviews here covering all the features so i won’t repeat here other than to say you will need high speed internet and make sure you are using the proper hdmi cables (hdcp 2. Proper hdmi cables are a must or you won’t get the best 4k has to offer ie; 4khdr or dolbyvision at 60 hz. Our particular setup is an lg 65′ led/lcd 4khdtv, yamaha 4k pass through receiver and a 5. 1 home theater speaker system. Peripherals include the appletv, firestick and bluray dvd player. Everything runs off high speed wifi and everything communicates with each other perfectly. All the remotes automatically program to run each of the other devices including the apple remote. At the end of the day 4k video is simply stunning, and i just don’t see how they will improve upon it short of someday beaming signals straight to the cortex.If you’re already in the apple-verse, you know all you have to do is plug this thing in and it will set up virtually by itself.

This product is so simple to setup, use, and navigate. I have never had it buffer, but i also have a wired internet connection for it so i can not speak on behalf of the wifi connection. If you have another apple product, it instantly syncs to that so you don’t have to sign in and makes the setup process so simple. The siri on the remote is what i was most skeptical about, but works surprisingly amazing. I use it every day and it has never misunderstood me. The picture quality is beautiful and have not ever seen the quality fluctuate.

Everything came in the exact same way as i expected from apple. The quality is sharp & i can definitely see the difference in the 4k one vs 1080p from last year. I think this is worth buying & upgrading from last years model especially if you have a 4k tv.

So much better than the previous versions. Streaming 4k hdr works far better than through my sony 930e with no delay or audio problems, which were extremely frustrating. I have noticed a number of people posting issues with making the hdr connection. Apple tv does this during the set up, and it didn’t work at first. There are three things (at least) that you might want to check if you cannot establish the 4k hdr connection. First, make sure your hdmi cables are high speed cables. Second, if you are connecting directly from apple tv to your tv and not through your receiver, make sure that your advanced settings on your tv are set to ‘enhanced’ or ‘full’ or some other equivalent in the ‘external connections’ setting. Lastly, your receiver likely has a specific mode for high speed connections. My yamaha tsr 5810 has two modes, select the appropriate high speed mode. Once connected, it is flawless.

Apple really hit it out of the park with this one. I can’t find a single fault with it. Very small, but very comfortable and easy to use. Love the siri support directly from the remote. Picture and audio quality are equally as good. I have an nvidia shield as well, but the apple tv is noticeably better in both the visuals and audio (when connected to a 4k hdr compatible tv). Especially when playing music, there’s no comparison between the two. Hdmi cec support is present as well, so you can turn on and off your tv directly from the apple tv’s remote. Truly an excellent product, wish i had bought it sooner.
