Exceptional quality, easy setup and just gorgeous. Addressing a few ‘complaints’ in other reviews:1) easy setup right from the comprehensive remote. And yes you can setup to go straight to cable from on button (or to google home if you prefer. )2) terrific low-light viewing. Extremely easy to setup viewing preferences directly from settings3) my favorite feature is easy switching between multiple inputs, again right from multi-feature remote. I use my roku ultra (primarily for access to mlbtv and assorted other channels) but tv has installed chromecast and the primary streaming channels built in. Absolutely no complaints, easiest 5 star rating.
Many of my friends come over and talk about how good the quality is and i don’t really believe them, until i got their house and they’re like “yeah, i paid $400 for a bigger tv than you”…. It’s not about the money, it’s about the quality put into sony tvs. Has amazing picture quality and keeps up with the apps/ games i use on it. I’m able to stream movies and play video games with extremely little to no issues from the tv in frame times/lagging. Honestly i have more issues with my internet then with the actual tv itself.
I ordered this to replace a three year old samsung that had a led panel starting to fade or burnout. I’ve always liked sony products and was willing to pay a bit more for this set. It arrived with no issues to the box or tv. I was a bit dubious of the google tv interface, but got used to it reasonably fast. My only nit is that the it seems to occasionally lose connectivity to my wifi even though it sits next to the router and no other device on my network has similar one-off drops. Otherwise, the picture and sound quality are both great. The remote is a bit large, especially coming a firetv remote, but it’s pretty easy to navigate.
I’ll start by saying i’m rating this based on my purchase via best buy. I ordered this tv from amazon and had to send it right back because the screen was cracked upon arrival. The ups guy told me it could’ve been cracked anywhere in the delivery process so be mindful if you’re thinking of buying from amazon. Great picture, colors really pop out. I haven’t customized the picture settings yet so i can imagine i can make it look even better. It has some pictures modes that changes certain characteristics for a better viewing experience. You can label the inputs, set it to start on a particular input or app, and adjusting the sound quality is very easy. The down-firing speakers sound ok but i recommend pairing it with a sound bar and subwoofer. The menu is smooth and easy to navigate.
Those shaded area’s seen on the left side of the picture are always there. It looked like two eyebrows and a hair line sideways. Almost not noticeable straight on but at the slightest angle jump out at you. It’s a beautiful picture straight on but this is not acceptable especially in a corner of the room installation. I sadly had to return this sony 50” x80 j tv.
