Amazon Fire Tv Stick and Echo Dot

My wife and i are both in our sixties, guess that not being up on technology may be our problem, we find a program we want to watch and it either want play or it gives us a activation code but never had a place to put that code, we’re a little frustrated at how it works, we download and still can’t watch a program, it probably works just fine we just don’t understand how.

Overall the fire stick has been an excellent addition to my living room tv setup. My tv is capable of displaying 1080p resolution so i bought this particular model because i did not need the 4k one and this one has tv power and volume control, which was easy to set up. Alexa voice control is very nice and works perfectly after linking my hulu, apple+, netflix and youtube accounts to the fire stick. I just press the mic button and tell alexa what i want to watch and it’s on the screen playing very quickly. I also stream media from my phone from those streaming services as well as photo and pictures from my personal library. The one issue i am having is that there is some bad background static even when i’m just on the home screen and volume levels seem to be all different with each service. It does seem to dissipate some after about 30 seconds of watching any given video but, it still evident when there is no dialog or music playing. Kind of annoying though, i’ve gotten used to it.

This is the fourth fire stick tv i have purchased. The first one i purchased when the product was first available. Overall, the device works as a good platform for prime video and the countless apps one can get. However, i have experienced frustrating issues with all four fire sticks that i have purchased over the years. The back of the remote control never stays firmly on. There seems to be a design flaw so that the back cover of the remote control never snaps firmly in place. Remote control connection issues: most often seen when i select the ‘home’ key on the remote. I litterally have to press this key a dozen times or more before the fire tv stick responds and goes ‘home’. This issue occurs often with my older devices and the new one i just purchased. This issue occurs with fresh batteries in the remote control and when i move the remote within a couple of feet of the fire tv unit. Compatibility with alexa- i have the hulu tv and netflix apps installed on my fire tv. With the most recent (and older versions of the fire sticks i own), i was initially able to set-up the ‘skill’ to use alexa (via voice commands through my echo show) to interract with the hulu app/netflix on my fire tv.

It was exceptionally difficult opening the remote to install the batteries. Believe that i have a “fix” for the issue. Amazon engineering should review this procedure for safety and effectiveness. Many peoples first impulse is to go for a knife or a screwdriver. I assume no liability if someone injures themselves using a knife or screwdriver. Put on a pair of latex gloves. Following the instructions, press hard on the cover (which happens to be constructed with a very stiff plastic) and push it towards the rear of the remote. Little by little the cover will start to move a mm or so at a time.

I just got this 2 hours ago, i can’t hardly wait to write a first review, i have all generations of all firestick, this 1080 stick is equally as good as the 4k, as far as speed and responses, i am now waiting for the 2020 version of 4k , hope it will be much faster. I am glad amazon is on top of the game, certainly my hat off to you guysafter using it for a week plus, i realized i had the same apps installed like my other 4k sticks but this new stick have used up less then half of the memory , i am over joy because i don’t have to clean up the money and cache every other day .
