LG 55SM8100AUA Alexa Built-in Nano 8 Series 55″ 4K Ultra HD Smart LED NanoCell TV
I bought this one after buying a similar model the year before. When you can get 4k the picture is fantastic. Only downside one feature is missing feature is the side by side feature where you could watch two events one cable feed and the second feed with a antennae.
The unit is easy to operate. The sound quality it great for a walk tv. The colors are vivid and most movies are great. Where it lacks, for me, is the darks. You have to be directly in front of the unit to see that gillian creeping on the dark. This is my second lg tv and the other unit didn’t have the same issue. I moved the other unit to another room and it still works great. This new unit i’m still trying to find that sweet spot that will make everything pop. For now i’ll leave it at a 4 star.
I purchased my lg 55sm8100aua from vanns (through amazon) a number of weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. I ended up purchasing this tv for $489. 00 which was the best price i could find anywhere including online and brick and mortar. The tv arrived as scheduled and packaging was excellent. I replaced an 8 year old lg tv so i was concerned about the potential difficulty of setting this up and i couldn’t have been more wrong as set-up was very easy. The picture and quality of this tv is excellent and i really like how small the bezel/framing is around the picture because when the tv is on all you see is screen and not framing. Also, the sound quality is a big improvement from my older tv. Just a quick statement regarding set-up, i connected the hdmi to my cable box, turned on the tv and followed the easy instructions and i was watching my new tv in a matter of a few minutes.
I’m going to start out by saying, i had just purchased a 55 vizio at the end of june, when i came across this product i purchased one right then, and returned the vizio and i couldn’t be more satisfied. So with that said i highly recommend if you even are thinking about tv’s this is a must.
4k picture is great but there’s still some issues overall with black levels. When watching scenes that are dark with a campfire, you can see the tv struggle to properly show shadows. Smart features are good enough but would still recommend a game console or fire tv stick to add additional streaming apps like hbo go.
