Hisense 50-Inch Class H8 Quantum Series Android 4K ULED Smart TV
The out of the box color representation is not perfect and needs some adjustment. A single internet search gave some great suggestions for adjustments that i found spot on. After that the picture is incredible, the overall set up was beyond easy. I’m not sold on the android tv just yet, appletv functionality is much more intuitive to me, but that should not really influence whether or not you buy this set. I installed the feet in the narrow position and it is very stable, the cable management system in them is a nice touch. The set i received was manufactured in mexico, it appears well made and better looking then some of the lg and samsung units i looked at in store. I don’t rate 5 stars, most don’t believe them as most are bought or fake.
We researched a lot of tv’s, and with the pandemic going on, tv’s were actually hard to come by. On the hisense tv’s from reading review etc. So we figured out which size we wanted (replacement for our bedroom tv that died) and we waited. We were buying through amazon because we had gift cards. The second the tv came back in stock and at the price we wanted we bought. So far we have been nothing be very pleased with this purchase. The tv is very bright & crisp, very good sound quality, and love the google features. Would most certainly buy again & have told friends about our purchase.
Update aug 1, dropped to 3 stars, continuous issues with native apps closing, lack of storage for apps(i have 6)and getting storage full messages, also very difficult to connect my apple tv 4k and lg sound bar, due to the hdmi standard or enhanced setting, once its set you have to go through multiple steps to toggle back and forth. Many other small issues preventing home theatre set up, ended up buying the lg oled cx, h8g was waste of money for my need but great for the basic needs buyers. Update: many issues with dolby atmos via netflix native app and chromcast. Neflix has poor management of atmos and can cause the picture to studder when arc is used(earc would resolve. Hint hint hisense)-no motion enhancement setting will resolve the issue, to resolve set the cec settings to the off for volume control-this will disable atmos to an external component, and allow you full control and stop the atmos/vision lag, you will also notice the netflix shows will now indicate vision and 5. 1 opposed to vision & atmos. Amazing picture quality, better picture and 4k color gamut than my sony x750 4k 50 inch. , full array backlight is definitely better than the sony’s direct light, such deep colors. I’d say it’s an upgrade to my sony x750 4k uhd. . Ive always had a sound bar current is lg sn9 5. 2 with dolby atmos, amazing tv and bar output but sadly no true hd dolby atomos from the hdmi outputs to the sound bar due to lack of support for earc,i set the output to dolby digital plus for the closest atmos sound quality but not quite the true atmos experience. Overall at the price point the h8g is a strong competitor against sony and samsung models with qled tech in the 900- 1100$ 65 inch price range but lacks upgraded features that are found in those brands high end models with 1300-1450$ price tags.
I ordered two of these tvs by mistake and by the time i realized my mistake, they had already been shipped. When i realized this, i called ups and unfortunately their hands were tied and they were unable to change the shipping info. I then spoke with jamaica at electronic express and she went above and beyond and was able to redirect these tvs back to the ups carrier to make sure that the delivery did not go out and also had the tvs returned back to their warehouse. Jamaica truly went above and beyond customer service. She was very informative, helpful, caring and was always very responsive whenever i had a question or needed anything. I am so grateful that i was able to work with her on this matter and because of that, i will now only buy third party items from electronic express. Jamaica has gained a forever customer in me. I hope her company realizes what a fantastic employee they have in her, who is truly dedicated to her customers. That to me is true customer loyalty.
It’s only been a week, but at this point i can find no bad things to report – and i’m trying to find anything negative since i am comparing to the sony 55′ a1e model oled that it is replacing because of some kind of image issue that sony denies happens. This hisense is equal to, maybe better than, the sony when it had a good picture. It is also smart and adapts automatically to feature movies or whatever content you change to. The sound is also good right out of the box although i did lose ability to connect my sub woofer for added bass. The picture is absolutely stunning when watching blu-ray from the player. Can’t wait to see a 4k blu-ray movie on this tv. Oh, and i almost forgot, hisense 20′ bigger at half the price of a smaller sony. Just make sure you have large rooms to view from because it is very bright and easily watched from 25 feet away.
