No room for error in finding stud. Though, i had no issue with it, some may. Great strength, solid construction, allowed me the freedom to move beyond a light on dresser and corner of armoire in bed room, a 55′ tv.
Works well, but the size of the wall mounting bracket does not allow for it to be shifted sideways to match up with studs. I solved the problem by installing longer 1 x 4 wooden horizontal pieces long enough to span 3 studs, then bolted the wall mount exactly where i wanted it on the wooden pieces. If you are free to put the mount on any particular pair of studs, then you won’t have to do what i did. I had no freedom to change the horizontal position due to furniture arrangements.
I have an older building so no studs anywhere. Never know where solid structure is. I mounted this on an interior wall, other side is inside a closet. But the wall is really sturdy otherwise. My tv is about 43 pounds and i wanted to distribute the weight. I drilled 10 mounting points and bolted the mount directly to the wall with 5′ x 5/16′ bolts and extra wide fender washers. Also, my tv mount points uses 1/4-20 machine screws which i had to buy myself because the supplied screws did not fit. Took my time, went slow and got the tv mounted in about 3 or 4 hours. I don’t need a wide range of motion, and this mount provides more than enough motion.
We installed the wall mount a couple of months ago. Our living room now looks better. It was super easy to install but it is a 2 person job. My husband and i were done in about 30 min. The only reason i gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because the tv does tend to lean to one side slightly if you move it. I’m not sure if its because of the weight of the tv or the tighteners aren’t sturdy enough. Never the less we are super happy how it came out. We’ve gotten plenty of compliments on the new look and have passed on the purchase info to some friends and family. Their comment has been that now that they actually see that it does work they feel more comfortable ordering one themselves. Just for reference, we used the wall mount on a 55 inch sumsung curved tv.
Absolutely the best mount for the money. It easily holds my tcl 65′ tv with ease. It is versatile and holds up to 100lbs. The range of motion is good and it even has leveling bolts for tweaking.
